Below the images you can read about the artist.
I employ a classic approach to my photographs of landscape, architecture and light studies, hoping to convey a sense of stillness and reverence for my subject.
Theresa Segal is a southern photographer who began her education in the arts at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. Further pursuing her interest in the medium, Segal completed the photography program at the Southeast Center for Photographic Studies at Daytona Beach Community College where she was the recipient of both Kodak and Fuji Scholarships.
In the 90's Segal focused on gardens and statuary, incorporating turn of the century processes which she studied at the University of North Florida. Based on this imagery, she was awarded a grant in 2000 from the Jacksonville Community Foundation to photograph rural landscapes in a series called Hidden Florida. Her most recent subject was Baracoa, Cuba, which she visited with three other photographers for a project entitled "Shared Vision." This photographic exhibition, which toured Florida throughout 2005 received state funding and an access grant from The National Endowment of the Arts.
She is currently teaching photography at Flagler College in her home town of St. Augustine.
