Artist Biography

Sculptor Enzo Torcoletti was born in Italy and studied at the Instituto Statale D'Arte from 1954 to 1958 before moving to Canada and attending the University of Windsor. He completed his B.F.A. there in 1969 with a major in sculpture and a minor in printmaking. In 1971, he received his M.F.A. from Florida State University.

 

Torcoletti focuses on stone carving, delighting in all forms of figurative images. He has received grants and commissions for projects around the world, including a 50 ton granite sculpture in Kings Hill, Kent, England.

 

"I think of my work as a mixture of magical reincarnations of images from the past, rendered in a new fashion," states Torcoletti. "It is always my intent to create works that highlight the medium and transport the viewers from past to present to immediate future by engaging their imagination and their intellect."
